Yesterday sister moon was Full in Taurus and with her came a very big storm here on the East Coast. Yesterday we waited for the storm's fullest to arrive. The candles were ready. The sandbags were placed outside. I harvested the last of what herbal medicine was still growing. The laundry was done and we made a hot meal and enjoyed it thoroughly, not knowing if the power would go out. And then at the end of the night, there was just one last thing to do...
Breathe.
Is there any other act more powerful or more sacred?
A deep breath in and a deep breath out and the body relaxes into whatever may come and whatever that is. Whether its fear, anxiety or uncertainty.
In the end, my neighborhod fared well in the storm and our fears never came to pass. But I know others, in other states and other areas that are suffering and my heart goes out to them.
No matter what a storm, real or symbolic, may be bring, we must breathe. Sometimes that is all we can do. But it is no small meanigless act. Breathing means we are alive and that is a gift. To stop a moment and feel your breath is to acknowledge, even for a moment, that despite it all, we are alive and that is blessing.
