Inexpensive, straight from the earth and a little goes a very long way. I love this stuff! It has so many wonderful uses, but here are my top 5 reasons to love clay:
1. Soothes bug bites
This is my biggest discovery of the summer. As soon as that mosquito bites, I rub the smallest bit of French Clay mixed with water on the bite and voila! The clay dries out the bug poison and stops the itch right away. I can't tell you how excited I am about this discovery!
2. Its a magic skin eraser
French clay for pimples, acne and hives is a miracle fighter. With a little water on a q-tip and mixed with the clay, just dab on the problem area and let the absorbing and drawing qualities of the clay do its magic. A little on a trouble spot overnight and I wake up to clear skin in the morning!
3. Better than toothpaste
Bentonite clay is an edible clay that comes from volcanic ash sediments. Not only is it used externally for beauty treatments, its also taken internally to treat mineral deficiencies. I love it in my tooth powder recipe. Commercial toothpaste contains chemicals you really don't want near your body, let alone in your mouth! So make your own tooth powder from all natural clay, baking soda and peppermint oil. Its like getting an invigorating teeth-cleaning every time I brush.
4. All-natural skin revitalizer
You don't need fancy spa concoctions to get toned, revitalized skin. A clay facial mask once a week is a nourishing ritual that stimulates the skin and leaves your skin silky smooth. Just put some French Clay in your palm, mix with some water and smooth over the skin. French clay literally draws out oils and impurities - and it works fast! I find about 5 minutes is all I need before rinsing off. My skin is so ridiculously silky afterwards.
5. Did I mention its really inexpensive?
I get my clays from Mountain Rose Herbs online and 1lb. of bentonite clay is $5.50 - even with shipping, that is a great deal, considering how much tooth powder alone that would make (compared to your store bought paste). Add in its uses for beauty and bug bites and a little goes a long way!
