Just before the birth of my own baby, the latest issue of Sacred Pregnancy Magazine came out which features an article I wrote on herbal medicine that supports a healthy labor. Having just experienced the birth of my daughter two weeks ago, I can attest to the nourishing power of the herbs I reccommend, specifically Chamomile, Rose Hips and Alfalfa. Here's a little exerpt from my article:
"The experience of labor is powerful, dynamic and fluid. It is that sacred moment when a woman
is called forth to step into her body fully and finally meet her baby. As a woman pregnant with
her first child in my ninth month, I confess that there is part of me that wishes there was some
magic herb or spice to stimulate labor to arrive when I choose or some magical concoction that
will create a a perfect birth of ease.
However, there is another part of me, my sacred intuition as a mother-to-be, living fully in this
pregnancy, that knows there is no such thing as a perfect labor; it will be as it needs to be for
me and my baby."
Looking back on my birth experience, what I said was very true - it was as it needed to be for me and my baby.
The entire magazine is gorgeous and full of amazing and inspiring information. Its more of a book really, with the wealth of knowledge it offers and the beautiful imagery. If you have any interest in birth, motherhood or women, you will love it. You can read a preview of the issue and purchase here. Enjoy!
